The idea of Integrative Wellness Therapies developed organically over a 14-year psychotherapy career and a personal journey of development and discovery. Long before Emily was introduced to David Emerson‘s work in 2011, Emily believed in the significance of seeing the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) when looking at health, wellness, and healing – especially when trauma is involved.
Emily often describes trauma as existing on a spectrum that we all encounter at some point in our lives, in big and small ways. David’s work developing Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an evidenced-based adjunctive treatment for those suffering from chronic and complex trauma, often resistant to most treatment approaches, brought an important and instrumental voice to the field of trauma that legitimized the unique needs of this resilient population.
This set Emily on a path that just made sense – even before “body-based treatments” and “trauma-sensitive” yoga became the buzz words that they are today.
Emily will forever be indebted to David Emerson for pioneering this paramount work, and advocating for a population that needed a voice. She considers it a privilege to be trusted by her clients in helping them find their own strength and inner wisdom, and compassionately guiding them through their healing process.
